Hanging Decorations above Beds

I found some soccer art for my tween son's bedroom.   I bought it on Etsy and it has a rustic look but is printed on metallic paper.  He is obsessed with skateboarding and soccer so I thought it would be perfect.  When I hung it up I realized that now I have something hanging above all the beds in the house.

Spray Painting a Metal Railing {Krylon Rust Protector}

One of my focuses at my brother's house was to fix/repair all those little projects that we all have and bug us every time we walk by them.. The first of those was the front porch railing that had lots of rust.

Shared Boy Nursery

I spent the last few weeks visiting my family and helping my brother and his wife spruce up their house a little.   I showed up when my sister in law was 38 weeks pregnant with their 5th child and she was really sweet and patient as I ripped her entire house apart!

My brother and I worked super hard to get everything done before the new baby came and we were hanging the last few things up hours before the little guy got home from the hospital!  One of the first rooms we worked on was the nursery.

The starting point for the nursery was this quilt that I bought on Etsy from The Tabbie and The Pea .  The fabric is Michael Miller's backyard baby .

Jumbo Wall Number Art

I've been working on making my living room more fun and family friendly since we spend so much time in there.  I thought a giant number 6 would be a great addition since there six people including my husband and I in my family.  When I first told my Mom about this project she got super excited and thought I was announcing that I was pregnant with twins or something!  I do have older brothers that are twins and my Dad is a twin and my Mom is a super optimistic person so I see how she could come to that conclusion.  So funny.

Fabric Wall Map

I'm SO excited to share a fun project that I did with some of my blogging BFFs.  One of the best things about blogging is connecting with people who think the same way you do and always have a fun creative project on the brain!  This past month Jenna from SAS Interiors, Kim from Sand and Sisal, Monica and Jess from East Coast Creative  and Allison from House of Hepworths and I have been chatting it up on the phone, sending emails and sharing SO many great ideas.

We decided it would be fun to have a little challenge and see what each of us could come up with from the same list of DIY ingredients.  Beckie from Infarrantly Creative compiled a list of stuff that we had to incorporate into our projects.  Ready to see what I did?

Office Caddy Makeover {Dinosaur bedroom}

I'm almost done with the dinosaur bedroom. Down to the last few little projects! I needed a little solution for my son's desk to hold his homework supplies and found this perfect little caddy at Goodwill for 50 cents. Well perfect except for the 80s duck.

Leather Wall Letter {Dinosaur Boys Bedroom}

You ready to see the fun faux leather wall letter that I posted last week on Beckie's awesome site Infarrantly Creative?  It's an easy and cheap way to add some texture to a room.  My 6 year old claims that the letter feels EXACTLY like dinosaur skin!

Dinosaur Boy Bedroom {Curtains and Desk}

I've been doing my 40 bags in 40 days inspired by Sarah at Clover Lane.  Seriously am SO happy to be getting rid of stuff.  Somedays I feel like my job is to care of my families stuff and we just have way too much of it.  I would rather be spending my time doing fun stuff instead of taking care of stuff!  Going through the closets and bedrooms started a whole room rearranging thing.

Two of the boys traded bedrooms and we sold the smallest boy's bunkbeds.  After 12 years my house is bunkbed free!  Hip Hip Hooray!  I'm getting too old to climb a ladder to change sheets. New room, new theme I say.  Mostly I say I'm SO sick of Star Wars.  The boys have had that bedroom theme for years and I'm just tired of it.  So we are going dinosaur.  Goodbye navy.

Hello grey and white dinosaurs!  I made these curtains the same way I did the drop cloth drapes but you could do a no sew method like the houndstooth curtains too.

Teen Boy Bedroom Update {Light Fixture}

I have been on the hunt for the perfect light fixture for my teenager's room.  I finally found one at Ikea that was the right price but was too big so I'm going to show you how we fixed it and turned a long pendant into a fixture closer to the ceiling.

Pallet Coat Rack {glass door knob repurpose}

I've been working on a couple pallet projects so I had a big pile of pallet wood scrap in the garage. I found a vintage glass door knob at a little estate shop a few days ago and thought it would be perfect to hang coats. Easiest project ever. I grabbed a piece of wood out of the pile and sanded it a little. Didn't even cut it to make it even. The three glass hooks are new from Home Depot and I just used a bolt to attach the door knobs.

Playroom gallery wall {gallery wall tips}

Anybody else totally overwhelmed by fall school schedules and sports?  I sure am!  Wish I could spray paint on the sidelines at soccer practice but my kids think that would be embarrassing.  So I've been trying to sneak some time between carpools and lunch making to do some crafts.

The playroom is just about done.  Our new playroom has one big wall for art instead of the two smaller ones in the old playroom so I had to redo some and add some more pictures.

Here it is all finished!

Map Art {Change your world}

I'm really into Maps right now and wanted some cool art for my teenager's bedroom.  Plus I'm cheap and a paper map is about $5.  I got the actual map at Target in the dorm section.

Mother Teresa Quote Art {Do it Anyway}

I saw this awesome wall art over at I Am Momma-Hear Me Roar.   Cheri even has the file for sale in her etsy shop for just a few dollars.  I sent the file to Office Depot online and ordered it as an engineer blueprint.  When you do that it's only $3 to print the huge sign!  I just picked it up in my local store a few hours later.
