Ana White DIY Desk {Dinosaur Boys Bedroom}

Hi friends!  I hope you are having a wonderful week.  I am so excited to show you the new desk I built for my son's bedroom using some new Ana White plans.  The awesome thing about this desk is that it is just a few 2x4s and some 2x6s and cost less than $20 in lumber!!

I started by cutting all my lumber.  Measure everything twice and cut once!  You can see one of the 2x4s at the saw.  When you cut the leg angles you set the wood on it's side and set the saw at a 10 degree angle.

After the wood was cut I used my belt sander to sand it all smooth.

I used my kreg jig to build the desk top.  It went together so quick that I forgot to take a picture before starting on the legs!

Screw the legs to the 2x6 support with Kreg jig pocket holes and 2 1/2" screws.

Then add a 2x4 along the bottom for added support.  This desk is in my son's room so I wanted it sturdy!

I used wood glue to secure my pocket hole plugs and hide my pocket holes.

Finished!  It took my husband and I less than hour to build the whole desk so it goes together pretty quickly.

Then I stained it!  Hop on over to Ana-White's site to get the step by step how to on using water based stain.

Love how it turned it.  I wanted it to coordinate with the Rustic Twin Bed that is already in his room.

Now my big 1st grader has a big boy desk and more space to set up his special lego creations.

Thanks Ana for writing up the great plans!  Be sure to check out her new book The Handbuilt Home!
