Leather Wall Letter {Dinosaur Boys Bedroom}

You ready to see the fun faux leather wall letter that I posted last week on Beckie's awesome site Infarrantly Creative?  It's an easy and cheap way to add some texture to a room.  My 6 year old claims that the letter feels EXACTLY like dinosaur skin!

DIY Dinosaur Pillow {Monogram}

My Mom was here last week and finished up a ton of projects for me, including this dinosaur pillow.  By the time she left my knee and elbow hurt from sewing so much!  As she was cranking out projects she kept saying "I used to have so much energy!" and then she'd sew 6 more things. She has way more energy than I do that's for sure! It was fun having a sewing buddy for a few days, wish my parents lived closer to me.

DIY Ana White Twin Bed {Rustic aged finish}

There is some major crafting, building and cleaning out going on at my house!  My parents are here visiting and my Mom has great crafting and sewing skills.  You better bet there was a pile of unfinished stuff just "left out" in the craft room for her in case she got bored.

Today I'm going to show you how my son's dinosaur room is coming along.  His bed is an awesome Ana White  plan!

Zig Zag Monogram Pillow {Boys Skateboard Bedroom}

I've been working on finishing up projects around my house BEFORE starting new ones.  Sad face.  I know I can't be the only gal out there that gets going on a room makeover and then gets sick of it and moves on to something else leaving a pile of unfinished projects in my wake!  I'm resolving to be good and finish up stuff before buying new supplies for other stuff.

So back to the skateboard room.  The one I was working on MONTHS ago.  Remember the dresser, houndstooth curtains and skateboard shelves?  Well this week I made a pillow!  A pillow is progress.

Dinosaur Boy Bedroom {Curtains and Desk}

I've been doing my 40 bags in 40 days inspired by Sarah at Clover Lane.  Seriously am SO happy to be getting rid of stuff.  Somedays I feel like my job is to care of my families stuff and we just have way too much of it.  I would rather be spending my time doing fun stuff instead of taking care of stuff!  Going through the closets and bedrooms started a whole room rearranging thing.

Two of the boys traded bedrooms and we sold the smallest boy's bunkbeds.  After 12 years my house is bunkbed free!  Hip Hip Hooray!  I'm getting too old to climb a ladder to change sheets. New room, new theme I say.  Mostly I say I'm SO sick of Star Wars.  The boys have had that bedroom theme for years and I'm just tired of it.  So we are going dinosaur.  Goodbye navy.

Hello grey and white dinosaurs!  I made these curtains the same way I did the drop cloth drapes but you could do a no sew method like the houndstooth curtains too.

Picking the Perfect Paint Color {My Colortopia}

I love doing projects for my home.  I'm totally a build it, refurbish it kind of girl.  So I'm always on the hunt to find the perfect color to paint my new finds.  Sometimes picking a paint color can be the hardest part of a project!There is a great website that I find really helpful.

It's called My Colortopia and it's filled with advice and tools to help you pick the perfect paint colors for your home.

My Colortopia has lots of great contributors including Kate Riley, Centsational Girl, Lindsay Ballard from Living with Lindsey and my favorite blogging buddy Ana-White!  All the awesome contributors share their painting tips and tricks and answer readers painting questions.

One of my favorite features is called My Image Inspiration.  My Image Inspiration lets you upload one of your photos and gives you paint color ideas based on your photo.  I picked one of my favorite photos of the beach from when we lived in Japan.  You can zoom way out in your photo giving you more color choices.

Or you can zoom in on your favorite color in the photo and it will give you paint choices from there.  Love the shades of blue that My Image Inspiration picked for me!  The color palette looks like my craft room!

It's fun to upload different photos and see what suggestions you get.  Some of the colors I would never have thought to use but looked great together!

Do you have a painting project coming up?

-I have been sponsored by Glidden brand paint to write this post but the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. Thanks Glidden!

Ana White Brook Laundry Basket Dresser {Building}

Are you ready for the details on my laundry basket dressers?  I think this might be my favorite thing I've ever made.  It's life changing to have somewhere for the clean laundry!!  I've only been using the basket dressers for a few days but I'm totally in love.  That is a lot of raving about LAUNDRY but I'm sure those with lots of kids understand how fast you can get behind.  I am so excited that Ana was nice enough to write a plan for the 4 high dressers that I built!  So check out the plan and I'll show you the steps I followed to build it.
