Then I found a pile of old yardsticks in my Grandparents garage so I figured I'd make myself one. Which at my house "making it myself" means to go find my husband and explain my crazy idea to him and have him make it. His response was "You don't need more containers. A ruler box? Seriously?" Then like the nice guy he is he made it for me.
Love.

The old yardstick I started with.

I cut the wood all by myself with my husband's giant saw. I am trying to learn the woodworking stuff. The sides are 15 inches and the little pieces are 5 inches.

The bottom is a piece of hardboard leftover from the playroom chalkboard.

The sides got glued and nailed with teeny finish nails. Then the bottom glued and nailed. You could totally just glue it.

The little box ended up on the entryway table to hold keys and sunglasses.

I may stain it but for now I like it plain.

Love how it turned out!

Brook the box is perfect - from one container addict to another - great take on Layla's mantle decor. I so wish I could come across some old yardsticks like that, the new ones just look too 'cheapy', no character, no age. Someday.
Oh, I totally love this. It turned out beautiful. By the way I live in Syracuse, just down the street and around the corner from RC Willey. Thanks for linking to the Home Decor and Organizing link party. I'm featuring this on my FB page today. Grab a button if you'd like.
How cute!! I would love for you to join us today at "It's a Party"!

What a great little box. I picked up some free yard sticks and I think I see a project coming up soon.
Great little box, I have a thing for wood boxes also! I'll tuck this idea away for a time that I find a wooden ruler to use! Thanks!
I love it!! I wish I had more space for things like this. Even still, I find that I gravitate towards little boxes too even though I never know what I'll do with it. :)
I love boxes too! I just love how it turned out. I will be featuring it tomorrow at Creations by Kara. :)
This is just so fun and creative - I love that it's made with stuff you found too!
