Big girl bed...

Thursday / 2 comments
After 13 years our house is without a crib!  We decided to say Goodbye to E's baby crib and get her a big girl bed.  She just turned 27 months old and was getting too big for the baby bed.  Goodbye pink crib!  We found it a new home and sold it through Craigslist for $80.

Then we bought her big girl bed.  I got a mattress, box spring, headboard and rails for $50.  FIFTY DOLLARS!!  Woot, woot!  It took two or three weeks of searching every morning for about 5 minutes on Craigslist.  I wanted a solid wood spindly headboard.

The headboard was just regular stained wood and was old.  A coat of primer followed by my favorite pink Behr's Powdered blush and Ellie has a super cute headboard!  LOVE.  Even the dust ruffle was thrifted from Goodwill for $1!

E loves her new bed and sleeps SO much better.  The sheets are from Target and the bedspread is from Ikea.  I am attempting to make a super ruffly duvet cover like THIS ONE  and THIS ONE.  We'll see how it turns out.  I've been ruffling up a storm.

  1. It brings a tear to my eye to think of Ella big enough for a big girl bed! Super cute. You are the craftiest, thriftiest woman I know. Now, stop it, before I have to start hating you. :)

  2. Dude, I'm on post 2 of yours and looovvvinnnggg you. You're SO in my Google Reader. Can't wait to read/learn more! I wish I had your talent/eye!!
